vacuum adjust after distributor timing fix

Im a novice. I necessarily adjusted distributor but never thought to disconnect vacuum wire (under glove box in my 95 1500 sierra 305 v8). after tweeking distr. left and right it sounds better but vacuum sound is worse. I do not have gauge and dont yet know how to go about it. if i disconnect the wire , run engine, then reconnect, will vacuum be set to current timing?

btw its tbi. and air filter is off if that makes a difference, but it shouldnt.
