So I have just hooked a smoke machine up to my car, and found 2 vaccum leaks! my question is, is one of the vaccum leaks, the EGR Valve itself, a normal operation of the egr valve? its on the shaft. I am 80% sure it “shouldn’t do that” but, maybe thats ok?

anyways I have another egr valve that is ready to go in sometime this week and i still have the fog machine for a bit, so will post back regardless.

not sure if etgc forums can accept a 17mb file, but here we go. there you can see the smoke out of the egr valve location at shaft, and also not as evident another stupid rubber part that there is no way they make anymore. (NOpe didnt work. damnit. well i will attach a low res version as ZIP because like there is zero anonymous video hosting anymore. its real sad.)

I’m just a beginner here but I don’t think the EGR valve should be leaking smoke by as you described. My understanding is that the EGR valve is opened by vacuum acting on its diaphragm so if smoke is coming out thru the valve, either its diaphragm is busted or the valve itself is not closed … like it should be when the engine is not sending a vacuum signal telling it to open. Hope this helps!
