2003 Honda Accord, V-6: traction control activation indicator (yellow triangle with exclamation point) is illuminated and traction control indicator (yellow TCS) comes on after 20-30 seconds of driving. Transmission was just re-built (93K miles) and mechanic hooked up his Snap On scanner – could be right or left front ABS sensor or brake switch. I tried right front sensor (no ABS indicator illuminated) – what a mistake – sensor snapped off, I had to drill it out and ultimately, pulled off the hub to clean out the scraps. Put in a new sensor and still have the issue. I’m doubting the value of the Snap On scan. Any ideas?

Just realized I forgot one piece of information – I paid dealer $120 ($128 with tax) for the diagnostic scan and resetting of codes. They did 2 test drives – one at operating temp and one cold. I’m in central NJ.
Regarding parts – I got the first sensor from Rock Auto (great prices) – with the holidays, I was OK with having the car out of commission after I broke the first sensor. For the second sensor and for the brake switch, I went to Advance Auto parts – they take all of my used oil and filters for recycling so I like to give them my business, as well.
There is no way to easily remove those sensors. What you experienced is quite common. I have certain methods I employ to remove them that I hope to feature in a future video but be assured that you did nothing wrong and what you experienced is typical.
The blue connector for the codes is located up under the center of the glove box and yes you can pull ABS codes. There is a code listing on this site for Honda ABS codes just type in a search for Honda ABS and they will come up.
I don’t agree that the trans shifting had anything to do with the codes that were set but if they haven’t come back, they haven’t come back.

Im glad to hear your car is fixed. The sensor logic code may have been set because a non honda scanner tried to clear the abs code. When the factory scanner clears the code it then performs a “neutral position” memorization and if that isnt done then it will set that code.

Oh and I feel your pain on those sensors, they get stuck all the time and are a real bitch sometimes.

Honestly they only thing you need to do is remove the ABS2 fuse for about 15 seconds to clear the codes. I don’t think a non Honda scanner has anything to do with it. In fact many of the ABS systems Honda uses are made by Bosch.
Hmm, I just cleared a code today with my cheapo scanner and it set the sensor logic code. Once I actually plugged in the HDS and did the neutral rewrite it was all good.
I would say that’s probably due to the scanner you used. I still think if you pulled the ABS2 fuse it would have done the same thing.
eric, i’m having the same issue with my 2003 honda accord. just my “TCS” light and my “{BREAK” light are lit up. Wher should I start? I did check fluid levels. Also where do I find the ABS2 Fuse to try and reset it? Thank You Ray
Hi, I have been having the same issue but a little back story. I replaced all my control arms and on one of the control arms the mechanic did not replace the link of the control arm and the same day the link broke and the traction control light and the vsa light came on. I got that link fixed but the mechanic was not able to clear the lights and said it would not affect the driving but since then I have noticed loss of traction in corners and turns. Any help would be appreciated.
