Using Permatex Ultra Disc Brake Caliper Lube

What is the consensus on using Permatex Ultra Disc Brake Caliper Lube on caliper slide pins? I know Eric insists on using silicon paste, but if this is not available, can the permatex product be used instead? Any experience in using this product by forum members would be helpful.

It’s fine to use:

Looks good to me. I think Eric recommends the most less-intrusive lube that’s pretty guaranteed throughout the scheduled brake maintenance guide. Silicon is a really safe and clean basic chemical component.

I’ve had an issue with Permatex ceramic brake lubricant (light “urple” color) on slider pins. It caused one caliper to intermittently stick after ~6 months. The problem was gone after thoroughly cleaning the pins and using silicone paste.

Permatex has a silicone brake lubricant (24129 and 80653 in a red container) that appears to be similar to silicone paste with added ceramic solids (don’t know the benefit of ceramic particles though).
