Greetings-
I just wanted to thank everyone who offered suggestions and pointed me to videos (that for one reason or another I couldn’t find) to guide me along in my coolant system journey…and it has been a journey due to periods where I had pause and move to another issue on the car (and the weather hasn’t been cooperating in Northeast OH). But I believe I “graduated” (from the very basics on my Saturn) as of yesterday afternoon when I completed the bleeding procedure on my ’97 Saturn SC2.
What I have learned:
-The different parts (and their functions) of the cooling system and how to check/inspect them.
-What temperatures (actual) the tick marks represent on my vehicle’s temperature guage.
-When the cooling fan activates (my ’97 SC2 runs at just past 1/2, or 225 degrees whereas my ’01 Saturn SC2-departed-ran at just above the 1/4 mark. I had been using the ’01 as a type of standard for which my ’97 should mimic. My bad).
-How to test my cooling fan motor using test leads.
-A couple ways to deal with an ACTUAL overheat situation.
-How to replace a radiator hose with out losing a lot of coolant.
-How to test/inspect my thermostat a couple different ways.
-The connection between engine temperature and vehicle performance.
-How to bleed the system of performance robbing air.…So Eric, when’s the test?
Thank you for what you do, Eric! Keep on keeping on!
