      Lately I have become a tool addict. I collect more and more automotive tools almost daily. Partly because I am the Junk Removal business and people are always throwing away things like Hammers, screwdrivers, sockets, wrenches etc.

      The other day I was in (Dollarama) Canada’s #1 dollar store I usually only buy chocolates and and paper from the place because the rest of the stuff is wack. However, I was in the tool isle and I spotted these ratchets they seemed to be quality. Plus they don’t seem to make this style of ratchet these days. I saw Eric with on in his box. Please let me know what you think ?

        These are great but not as good as the sidewinder ratchets which have have a drive at the end on the handle.

          Wow. I just checked it out. You are right. I have never seen anything like that. That is perfect for very tight spaces in which you can’t move a ratchet from side to side to get the nut or bolt to move.

            I have racket socket wrenches for that kind of work ;). Basically like a fixed socket wrech, but with racheting built in. Or whatever you kind that kind of tool you can use to loosen bolts and doesn’t entire encompass the bolt/nut.

            Yes sorry, but english is like my 2nd/3rd language and my technical vocabulary is rather lacking in some areas 😛

                  I like the smaller one with the ratchet mechanism. The other day I was doing sway bar links having one of those in a larger size would have been handy to remove the nut as I held it in place.

                    Here are some of the tools that make life easier…

                    Notice the 6 point Mac tools spanner, which is a great tool that helps prevent rounding.
                    Jane 🙂

                      Wow. Thanks Jane. I have to get those ratchets. These are the only ones I have so far.
                      1= 1/2 ” Ratchet

                      3= 3/8 ” Ratchet

                      1= 1/4 ” Ratchet

                      I also have a mini ratchet.

                        Almost forgot. I also have gear wrenches. But I don’t use them often because I often do have much use for them.

                          I plan on getting the entire lineup of them. I like how one end of it is “fixed” while the other offers ratcheting. It really does make a lot of things easier, and not just automotive stuff 😛

                            After reading this I noticed I don’t really have too many ratchets. I only have a 1/2″ ratchet and a 1/4″ ratchet. Where I work we mostly use wrenches and I don’t really have the best of luck with ratchets. They also seem to break on me however there have been a few jobs where a ratchet would have just saved me so much time. I now think I’m going out to buy some more ratchets and sockets that will probably make life easier for me. 🙂

                              If I was buying a good Ratchet It would be the snake bar. It’s great for putting in bolts behind or down a restricted place like the throttle body’s on Mercedes W16 F1 sports engine.

                                Great point. Right now I have over 300 sockets. Short, long, medium. All I need now is more ratchets and 1/2 Sockets. 24,26,28,30,32,34,36,38 and 40. Also I am looking to get more cordless tools. I can’t stand air tools, the air line and the noisy compressor. I will be getting a cordless Air Ratchet as well.

                                At this point I think that I need about 40 more ratchets. Flex head ratchets in all shapes and sizes + ratchets with super long handles and stubby ratchets as well.

                                  It’s funny how you said you need more ratchets because you have over 300 sockets. I have at least 150 sockets and only two ratchets. Half of the sockets I have don’t even fit with my ratchets. Definitely will be looking for some quality ratchets this weekend. 🙂

                                    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMDqBEfXF24 it has about a 3-1 gear reduction to maintain torque applied to the fastener and you can use it as a normal ratchet without the handle wanting to rotate also when you rotate the handle it moves the head of the ratchet during both clockwise and anti clockwise rotations of the handle
