      Hi,

i seem to have some kind of performance issue on my car.
It usually appears in 2nd gear during acceleration. It feels like the car is choking and it is not accelerating smoothly.
This problem only occurs sporadically and i did not manage to reproduce it.
Now I am trying to find out what the problem might be.
I startet by changing my spark plugs, the old ones looked quite good, but I changed them nonetheless.
Next step is changing the fuel filter.
But there are two things I am currently thinking might also be responsible for that:

First: Before I bought the car it stood for about 2-3 years at a honda dealer. Now I’m afraid that the injectors might be clogged due to bein stationary for such a long time. Like I found out this seems to be a known problem with honda injectors?

Second: Every time I turn off my car after driving I can hear a whistling noise for about 2 seconds. It seems to come from the enginge somewhere but I could not locate the source of that noise. Might be a vacuum-leak maybe??

      So I have two questions:
      1. How can i clean my injectors? And how can i find out if they are clogged?
      2. Any tipps on where to look for the source of the whistling noise?

My car: Honda Civic Aerodeck MC2
      Enginge: B18C4 DOHC VTEC
      Model: 1998
      kilometers: 180.000

alright. I cleaned my throttle as good as I could without removing it. there was a lot of oily stuff in there. I think it came from the cam cover ventilation hose. the throttle itself is clean now but behind the throttle there is still quite a lot of this stuff. while test driving it actually felt a little better yet not good enough.

I’m not sure if my car has an air mass sensor and if yes where I can find it. there is nothing in the hose from the air filter to the throttle body.

          tomorrow I’ll check the FPR

Checking the FPR brought nothing new.
BUT – After I cleaned the throttle again, and I got my oil changed (not sure if this has anything to do with my problems) I went on a long vacation trip through denmark and sweden.
All in all around 3000km – and it seems much better now.

I’ll keep an eye on it, but for now im quite satisfied with the results.
