UIM Coolant line bypass…

The coolant return line on my 2000 Taurus (Vulcan) UIM is really rusty and appears to be leaking. I’ve read forums where people say it’s easier to bypass it than to bother about repairing it. Fixing it will involve cutting out a section of it and using ruber hose and clamps at both ends. Is it safe to bypass the UIM or will it hurt the engine somehow?

Thanks Dreamer. Got the stuff to fix it. I’ll do it tomorrow. Just thought I’d ask about the bypass mod first to see if anyone had actually done it.

Your best best area for asking questions regarding service is in the ‘Service and Repair’ section seeing as this is the ‘Maintenance’ section C8-)

I would just use some rubber hose to fix the issue using a few hose clamps on either end.
