Hello all,
I recently had a turn signal stop working, the lamp was fine (tested and has 0 resistance), and putting my leads directly on the connection demonstrates the signal working. I’m 99% sure it’s the connector between the lamp and wires. My question though…
What… on Earth, is the yellow paste packed in the connector?

Whatever it was, there was a bunch of it jammed up in the socket. Cleaned that out and it works now.

I believe it’s dielectric grease. They use it to pack into electrical components to prevent corrosion. To be honest I think it’s more likely that something in the column was off. There are tabs that should activate the cancel in the switch. If the steering wheel isn’t on correctly or the tabs are broken it can cause the turn signals not to work properly.
