      Hi ya,

As above can we get a video on turbos… how they work, things to look for, how to remove/replace and how to turbo a NA car and what considerations would need to be taken oin to account 🙂

How do they work – I’ve driven approximately 300K miles in three different turbo cars and so far I have never had to touch the turbo or waste gate. So, I’d say they work pretty good. The exhaust spins one pin wheel and on the other end of the shaft is another pin wheel that acts as an air compressor.

As for removing and replacing, this amounts to removing the water and oil lines and then the rest is exhaust work. Exhaust work is never fun especially if the vehicle has some miles.

As for converting a NA car to turbo don’t do it. There’s to much engineering in a turbo car to make it drive correctly while protecting the engine, engineering that you can’t easily duplicate. There are plenty of turbo cars around so the best way to go is to just trade for one.

I’ve been asked about this a lot. I DO have plans to cover it but I’d like a vehicle that I could work with for shooting videos. Perhaps after the Fairmont project wraps up I’ll look into a turbo project next.

          Thanks for the suggestion.
