i love forced induction and try to learn as much from it as i can weither it be a Blower or a turbo, i think if Eric could get something too work on like a Regal GS, or a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP he could do a video on how to maintain the superchargers on them.

there are also plenty of turbo cars out there too… it would be a interesting video indeed!

Also with more and more turbo cars coming onto the market, like the chevy sonic 1.4 turbo and the ford 1.0 litre 3cylinder turbo ecoboost that will be showing up in the fiesta and possibly the focus as an optional upgrade replacement next year… There are some things people need to know when owning a turbo car.

Like “cool down” it’s best to let the car run for a minute or more to let cool oil (and with some turbos engine coolant) continue to run through the hot turbo so it doesn’t crystallize. Of course electric oil pump are becoming more common so this “cool down” could be skiped… but it’s something that should make its self known…

Aftermarket upgrades is also something that should make itself more known, as if a car did not come with a turbo and or it was not an option, it is probably not intended for it, and there are things you need to swap, like stronger bearings and injectors and depending on how much boost you add rods and pistons and billet cranks… And obviously you need a bigger less restrictive exhaust so that the turbo isn’t held back by the exhausts back pressure thus reducing your turbos spool time… and in extreme cases max PSI…

This is just turbos… there is so much to cover with forced induction that you can’t sum it up in a 10 minute video… but it would be nice to see more information out there…

I’ve been asked about this a LOT. Thing is I hardly ever see them in the shop so it’s very difficult to make videos on things I don’t have. Also, I want to be sure to cover naturally aspirated engines before I get into performance work. I guess the long and the short of it is I’ll get to it at some point, just not sure when.

            Thanks for the suggestion.

understood, i know you covered natural aspiration at one point, the benefits of long narrow runners vs short fat runners, how they affect the velocity of air coming into the engine or air restriction or lack there of.
