I was wondering what is the best tuner for an ’06 ford f-350 6.0L if i were to complete an egr delete. I know that egr deletes are usually done on these 6.0 engines because they foul up a lot of other systems. But it will trigger a check engine light without a good tuner and i know very little about them so what do you guy’s and gal’s know about this.

Google forums for that specific truck model, and I’m sure you will find info that will help.
On my ’05 Ram with the Cummins, I had an EDGE Juice /w attitude that worked good. It actually did not re-program the stock computer, it monitored and modified the stock computer signals to the injectors. That was back in 2005. There are newer programmers that claim to be better now, so if I was looking, I would start searching the diesel truck forums.

Do the egr delete, stud the head, get a free’r flowing exhaust, and a good intake.

Are you pulling, just looking for power, or wanting to run with 6.4 and 6.7’s with big power.

The edge monitor provides great gauges and monitoring capability but that’s as far as I would go. I would stay away from banks, superchips, and bullydog, and edge tunes. Look into custom tuning such as gearhead, innovative diesel performance, river city diesel just to name a few. Mainly for better milage, power, reliability and they adjust transmission parameters also. You may want to look into some gauges such as boost, trans temp, egt temp aswell to keep an eye on things.

Now there is a downside to adding power. You increase risk of headgasket failure but it is much less common once the head has been studded. But it’s also even common with stock ecu tuning. Usually it’s the trucks that are pushing big power. If I owned a 6.0 this is what I would do. I’m still rolling in the 7.3 world lol.

Ok so I have decided to do the delete on the truck. I do tow a gooseneck horse trailer with it and I am probably going to go with an sct tuner for it and add a coolant filter, new water pump and oil cooler. Also the truck has 160,000 miles on it and has some oil leaks that I am also going to take care of.

Glad to hear, the egr cooler was one of the main problems with those trucks.
