I would like to know what tuning software/hardware is out there for different makes and models.

I have a honda and use a Program called Crome. I would like to get Neptune or ECtune.

What is available for your make and model and what do you use?

Crome is ok, but I never did like the idle issues. Trying to set the timing with the engine reving up and down never was fun. Ectune is a good program but the customer service is a joke! Hondata is a very good program but I would never buy it new. Find it used and its about 1/2 to 2/3 the price and works just the same.

For GM cars I’ve used HP Tuners. A really great program in my opinion.

For Hondas… well if you really feel like tinkering you can run Megasquirt. It can run on basically anything, but I haven’t used it personally.

Us DSMers and Evo guys use DSM Link (now known as ECM Link) we also use Ostrich with Jackal or Werewolf or TunerPro. We also use ECUFlash with 98-99 ECMs or all Evo ECMs. From there we step up to AEM EMS, a few of use MoTeC.

ECMLink is so good that other car brand enthusiasts are finding sways to swap our harnesses and ECUs into their vehicle to use it. More information on it can be found at http://www.ecmtuning.com .

Haha that is funny that people are don’t the with Eco ecm’s on http://www.pgmfi.org (honda’s ecu site) people are doing the same thing by using an obd 1 ecu they can have almost fully functional standalone for a fraction of the price.

Topher, I havent had that issue with crome yet so i wouldnt know.

Forgive the spelling and misplaced words this site OS not phone froemdly

For Cobra’s, GT500’s and Lightnings I’d either go with VMP Tuning in Deland, Florida or Revan Racing (Jon Lund) Tune. Both have tuned near thousands of cars.

Just ordered a TOP853 to burn my SST27SF256 chip. Most likely will start with Crome. Also, will be chipping a P06, unless I can find a good deal on a P28.

Hondata is probably the best for most Honda applications.

I got 2 friends with mopars, an ’09 Challenger R/T and an ’04 Neon SRT-4 and both em are using the Diablo Predator tuner.

I use Lugtronic, basically Hondata for VW’s. VEMS Tune is the software with a V3 ECU. You can run it on anything though.

What kind of car do you have?
                        I looked at the kit and it’s $1,325.. I can’t aofford that.
I’m in the middle of doing a engine swap in a ’80 vw rabbit, the engine is from a ’94 jetta.
I found a chip on e-bay for $40 bucks that plugs into the stock ecm.. I think will try that.

i too have heard good things about hondata, and megasquirt, i know there is a local tuner down near me called diyautotune who deals mostly with helping people either build custom standalone systems or just assisting in in doing some light piggyback tuning. they have helped several of my friends with tuning on their cars, i believe they are partial to megasquirt mostly just because of its versatility.
