Trunk kept falling… would stay up!
cure .. replace (in my case) both shocks .. some people call them lift supports.. other people call them
struts.. Call them what you want but they’re “pricey!” .. $35 bucks a piece but they’ll fix your trunk problem.my supports used a “spring clip” … makes it a bugger to figure out .. but once you do it’s a 10 minute job and
all you need is a small pocket flat blade screw driver. I posted a picture of the support in the trunk and another
with a close up of the head of the support.The clips are the trick to this puzzle. The clips have a “V” end which hook it onto the ball it attach it to.
Use the small screw driver to push the clip a small way .. but use the other hand to pop the support out!
NOTE: I used four 2×4’s to wedge and keep the trunk up during this time… and I was laying inside the trunk the
whole time and never in the trunk opening. That trunk weighs probably 40 lbs (at least seems like it) so it’s
dangerous if it comes down. I didn’t have the supports right away and bought them later so I used the trunk
without any support.. so I know what the weight was with no supports .. yes it can be done…The work should take 10 minutes once you know the spring clip trick. I took the trunk liner off but I think I could have
left it in. I did not remove anything from the backseat area.Generally a novice could do this .. since I had never done it and it was my first time
