Trunk release cable

I have 2007 Nissan sentra S 2.0l. The trunk release cable appears to be broken. I can’t seem to find any info on removing or repairing cable. I have a repair manual there is nothing in it about removal. Also have a PDF file also nothing. Even checked you tube video no luck there. I tried removing panel surrounding it no luck. I am afraid to break something. Any suggestions or help will be appreciated.
