When i try to start my truck it will not start. After a few seconds I get a “No Bus” message on the odometer, the check engine light and gas light come on (though the tank is full). This means the computer is dead, from what i have read. The computer that is on it is the second PCM i have had fry on me in the past few months. In addition the gauges do not work. I am guessing there is a short in the wiring harness that is frying these PCMs. If anyone has any ideas please let me know, the truck has been down for a while now and I’d like to get it running soon.

      I drive a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie 5.2 316

What exactly is a DVM? I may look into borrowing one.

After I read what you guys said I started looking for the ECM. A repair manual I have said it was on the engine block, I figured it must be on the back because I had never seen it before. I got back there and looking and I noticed this (see pic below). This is a pic of where the exhaust pipe meets the header.. you can literally stick your hand in there and both sides are like this. I apologize for being off topic but this kinda shocked me. That explains the lack of power I’ve been experiencing lately! I imagine that is the reason for the o2 code I was getting as well.

          DVM: Digital Volt Meter.

Very handy tool to have around for various automotive and household tasks.

If you have a Harbor Freight Tools in the area? You can get one at a fairly good price.

Maybe I’m looking at something else…but exhaust looks normal to me.

As to the O2 sensor and lack of power I would recommend reading this:
