Truck Wont start

I have a 97 ford ranger with a 4.0 liter engine and a automatic trans. Every now and then if it wont start for like 20-30 mins. If i go into a store for like 10 mins and come back to it not starting. It has power to everything but wont start up. The dash lights up, radio works, windows work, everything but it wont start. Any Ideas on what it could be?
I’m thinking maybe the anti theft system is confused.

Are there any codes present? Is the ant theft flashing when trying to start it? Does it crank?
You will need to see if spark or fuel is lost at the time of no start.

Could It be the starter going out. I had a vehicle at the small shop i work at make the same sound and wouldn’t start. We tapped the starter and it started right up?

That is a possibility. I would ensure 12v is going to it.
