Truck gets stuck in first gear

Every now and then my 2009 Silverado will get stuck in first gear. When it does get stuck the speedometer will drop to 0. It seems to only happen when I drop down to a speed under 5mph and then start again without coming to a complete stop. Such as going over a speed bump or in start and stop traffic. This started happening the day after I had the transmission flushed. After the first time this happened I noticed the trans fluid was low and there was a leak from the pan. I took it into a transmission shop to get the leak fixed and they recommended rebuilding the trans, due to metal shavings found not the failer to shift. After getting the truck back it is still occasionally getting stuck in first. Transmission shop said it sounded like an electric issue but there weren’t any codes. My thought now is that it is the speed sensor but I wanted to ask your opinion before buying any parts.

The truck is a 4 speed auto with 120k miles.

If it is an external unit, might inspect the wiring and connector for damage or poor fitting before buying a replacement.
