      Hi Eric:
Love a video on truck door jam striker plate repair. Are there JB Weld options when it first gets hairline cracks and squeaks over bumps. Then what is the correct way to line up the striker when welding a new filler plate into the open hole. There are 3 terrible videos on this subject now. We would appreciate an excellent one.

I have a 1999 C3500 truck. The striker has hairline cracks starting.

      Thanks,

Thanks for the suggestion. It’s not likely I’d be able to make a video on that topic anytime soon. I’m spending all my time working on the Fairmont these days. I’m hoping to wrap it up in the next month or so. Once that’s complete, I’m going to decide what to do next.

That said, I think replacement would be a better option over ‘fixing’. I believe door strikers are removable. In fact, I’ll be putting a new set on the Fairmont and also reconditioning the hinges because they are worn and causing the door to sag.

        Thanks again for the suggestion.

It’s not the striker itself, its the panel its mounted to. On the Fairmont, please cut out the entire inner door panel and weld on a new one, showing how to align and drill new holes for the striker. Thanks.

Sorry, that’s not going to happen. My hinges and strikers are fine, I see no reason to damage a perfectly good door. Perhaps I’ll get to what you want at some point in the future, but not anytime soon.

            Thanks for your request.
