Hello, i recently bought a re-manufactured carburetor for my 1985 s10 2.8 v6. Every since i installed it i have been experiencing hard starting issues. I have done everything i know to fix this issue short of opening up the carburetor. I have replaced everything from the fuel pump to the fuel filter. I have done a complete tune up as well. Once the engine starts it runs very well, so my question is could there be something inside the carburetor causing the hard starting ? If the engine sets without running for a day its very hard to start, then from then on it starts better but not the way it should. If the engine sets for a short time it starts better than it does if it sets longer but its still not starting correctly. I hope this information helps you determine what might be the issue.

My first guess is that the choke mechanism is out of adjustment.

+1 on the choke. Yes, Virginia, manual chokes can have problems too.

If the butterfly is held open then the choke shouldnt be an issue when starting the engine on a warm day, correct ?

my first thought was accelerator pump leak, but that would be unusual in a reman carb.
                    next idea is vacuum leak

Turns out the pickup coil was bad. Replaced it and solved the problem.
