Depends on what the system is.

VW and Audi use software like “VCDS” By rosstech, or the factory dealership software.

High end key cutter places have hand held programmers that are dedicated to ONLY programming the chips. It’s extreme cost for the hand held–But they can also do the job for about 1/2 of what the dealerships charge. (in my case, $50 to program 2 keys….if it worked (it didn’t, VW strikes again) The dealership charges $98 PER KEY unless you sweet talk the service writer.

Which car/truck are we talking about?

I’ve found how to program the FOB part (the keyless entry stuff)

            As for the transponder?

The 1999 I30 Key can be duplicated and cloned. You can take
the Key to an Automotive Locksmtih for cloning.

This vehicle requires special equipment to duplicate a key.

I’d check with higher end locksmiths. Stay away from the “1800” places…as they normally really shaft the customer. Last time I called one for just key programming? They wanted a flat rate of $200 just to come out and do??? (They never did say what they would do for that $200….)

1998 i30 doesn’t have chip key (check manufacture date) 1999 does and I will presume you have a 99.
99 I30 is not very friendly at all meaning there were special cables to interface with nats.
Most advanced locksmiths should be able to take care of this for you.
Are all the keys lost or do you have 1 working key?
If you have a working key seek out a clone.
If all keys are lost you may need to get the EEPROM reset to virgin inside the PCM. The dealer will just sell you a PCM and nats module but this can be done for less.

With that vehicle you may have to go to the dealer. Those early systems often required proprietary equipment and software to service and duplicate keys.
