i have a 2001 Chrysler t & c, last year i replaced my trans with a re-manufactured trans. i put 15000 miles on it. after a drive on the highway, i noticed when i stop and then start. trans shutters then shifts normally in all the other gears. if i feather it its fine., but accelerate harder it shudders or slips fully until 2nd gear. reverse is the same. i do have an inline filter after the cooler. i check the fluid and it reads high on the dipstick with some bubbles. no evidence of burning. when its cold trans shifts fine. do you think i have too much fluid or the filter might be clogging? the outside temps been very cold in the single digits also. thanks

If you’ve got a warranty to capitalize on, just make use of it. There could be a problem is the low/reverse clutch itself or the hydraulic circuit or maybe something in the solenoid pack controlling fluid flow to the low/reverse clutch. You’d need an oil pressure gauge capable of 150 psi to test line pressure at the low/reverse pressure tap. The pressure taps are all inline beneath the solenoid pack and the low/reverse tap is the one on the far right. If you can test for pressure at that tap, you’d need to lift the front wheels off the ground, tap in the gauge, put the transmission in low gear and throttle until you hit 20 mph. The pressure at that tap should be 115-145 psi. This looks like the right place to start your diagnosis if you’re going to take a shot at it.

thanks for advice, i just purchased a gauge and did what you suggested and i get 75 psi hot or cold. i;m gunna change my filters. the one inside and i put one on the outside after the cooler. i flushed the cooler when i installed trans last year. if that doesn’t work, i have another solenoid pack. if it still doesn’t do the trick, then i’ll use the warranty. i had the trans shipped to me and i installed it myself.
