2000 grand am se 3400 auto I seem to have an issue. trans fluid is full. for some reason if i drive the car nice and easy its fine but anything more then about half to 3/4 throttle the car goes to shift from first to second and has a long pause before it actually goes into second. you can feel it leaving first car revs way up and a second or two later it shifts into second only under hard accelleration.all other gears seem fine either way nice easy driving or stomping on it.. also does the tps have a spring loaded type feel or is it loose no spring in it..I have one from my old sunfire when you turn the inside it returns to normal but on my ga you turn it and it dont spring back. this normal?

        Condition

Some customers may comment on a neutral flare and/or RPM increase while in drive or no 1-2 upshift and/or the Service Engine Soon (SES) telltale may be illuminated. On 1995-2002 model vehicles, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) may set a DTC P1810 while on 2003 model vehicles, the PCM may set a DTC P1815.

        Cause

The cause may be the transmission fluid pressure (TFP) switch (also known as the pressure switch manifold (PSM)). It will be referred to as the TFP switch in this bulletin.

        Correction

Follow the diagnosis and service procedure below to correct this condition.

        VIN BREAKPOINTS

        1. If servicing a 2003 Alero, Grand Am, or Malibu with a V6 (RPO LG8 or LA1) for a DTC P1815 built prior to the VIN Breakpoints listed in the table above, REPROGRAM the PCM with the calibrations listed, prior to replacing the TFP switch.

Important: Before installing the new TFP switch, inspect the date code stamped in the switch. The date code MUST BE 2308 or higher. Refer to the illustration above.

        2. Replace the TFP switch.

        3. Clear the code and road test the vehicle.

        4. If additional diagnosis is required to correct this condition, refer to:

^ For diagnosis of DTC P1810, refer to DTC P1810.

^ For diagnosis of DTC P1815, refer to DTC P1815.

            Go leafs.

Just based on this tidbit of information, you will be on your way to the dealer.

That’s unfortunate. Did they do any diagnosis or just do the update and ship it? To me it sounds like they just shipped it. To me it sounded like a pressure problem but that could be caused by the electronics which the update should have corrected. There could also be a problem with a solenoid or something like that. TSB’s are great but when it comes to transmissions you often have to get in there, check the pressures, check the electronics, and a good test drive before you can come to a conclusion.

no they did not check over the car they checked battery volts and then hooked up his laptop, was on it for maybe 10 mins and then did he crank shaft learn and that was it. you could notice the difference right away. shift from first to second is worse then before have to really press light on gas for it to shift normal and merging on the highway is way bad now the car kind of jerks. when you step on it to merge the car accells and then nothing then accell and then nothing and then accell then nothing and so on. but yeah whip lash affect lmao. from what I hear its gonna be about $800 to $1000 to change the tpc and they say they wont do that unless I also change the shift solenoid.
