you can do this. I would suggest pulling the return line and putting it in the bucket. this way all the lines and trans cooler get
        flushed. good luck. C8-)

synthetic to me is the best. I use mobil one. also check out valvoline max life. I’ve used this also and I’am satisfied with it.
I change the trans fluid every 30,000 C8-)

Makes perfect sense to me as long as you can devise a way to constantly keep suppling the trans with new fluid during the process and not over fill it. Might be interesting trying not to make a mess, I know nissans for example even the cooler lines are around 70 PSI on some models.

I personally would use whatever fluid is suggested by the manufacturer. Adding synthetic oils to a vehicle with miles on it (engine or trans) is bound to cause leaking seals.

                    Why not just drain-and-fill?

I’m changing transmission fluid too…but just going with the standard servicing (drain, filter, gasket, fill). I was thinking of going synthetic but it’s been said that it can cause problems just as Beefy had said above about the seals. For me it’s just not worth the risk. Good luck and let us know how it works out!

You can ‘flush’ the system as suggested however if serviced regularly all you should need to do is a drain and refill at the service interval, flushing is done more to cure a problem rather than as a service procedure. I would also recommend just using what the manufacturer recommends instead of synthetic, I’m not sure if there would be any gains to be had from running synthetic fluid that would justify the cost but honestly I don’t have a lot of experience with synthetic fluid so it’s hard to say.

so i think ive posted this but at 79k is it good to just ndo a drain and fill or flush it

Do you have 2 posts on this same topic? If so would you mind keeping it all on one topic this makes it easier for us that give answers to your posts so we don’t have to post the same thing twice. If that’s the case if you pick one that you want to keep I will delete the other.

As to your question I will refer to my previous post that flushing is something that is normally done to attempt to correct a problem if you are just servicing something a drain and refill at regular intervals should be all that is required.

thanks eric im sort of not really new im just kinda confused on that and if i mised the service interval im at 79 and it think the serive is like 50k should i still maintain it

That is a good question because sometimes when you change fluid that hasn’t been changed in some time it will actually cause the transmission to fail. I don’t think 20K is too far out however, normally problems would happen at twice the service interval from what I’ve seen. If I were you I would probably just change the fluid and filter and see how it goes.

I am against flushing the tranny….you can mess up the valve body
