      Hi all,

Is it safe to use Honda transmission fluid in Acura cars? Or am I better off using an imports version? What do you all recommend?

      Chris

Acura is Honda’s luxury brand in North America and Hong Kong, and many of the parts are interchangeable – as long as the part numbers are the same. So, you should be fine using the correct Honda fluid. Also, the DW-1 ATF fluid replaces/upgrades/supersedes the Z1 fluid, BTW.

DW-1 all the way. I did some research and it is the synthetic version. Passing this along to you. The advantages are that in colder climates it is better at shifting than the normal z1. Great for older transmissions that have more wear in them as the shifting will feel better sooner when you are driving. Especially in Hondas we all know (the ones that have the 90’s cars especially) that hard shift into 2nd when we first start the car. The DW-1 helps with that issue.
