Transmission causes engine to stall

so i having this problem for a while now and it happends sometimes when i stop the car at a red light the car just stalls and I can start it right back up again with no problem it has a new fuel pump so thats not it. the transmission is not a 100% it sometimes shift to late so i know i have a problem with that thing.

its like when you have a manual transmission and you put is in first gear and you just slow down at the point that it just stalls

i now it has a little to mutch fluid but i think that really is the problem? i dont

What car is it? Certain gm cars used to have a problem with the tcc lockup solenoid causing the engine to stall when coming to a stop
