Hi everyone, I have a 2011 Toyota Camry Auto Transmission and I couldn’t fine a dip stick for transmission oil. I lost my owner manual and the only thing I can remember is that the sale guy told me when I bought the car that late model toyota don’t need transmission oil change for life so they didn’t make the dip stick. Is that true? Thanks for your help!

Thanks college man, and the transmission oil does need to change out every certain amount of time/mileage, correct?

Yes, the trans oil needs replaced at intervals. The reason manufacturers have stopped inserting a trans dip stick is that they found that alot of warranty repairs for transmissions are due to the owner overfilling the trans, so they don’t want it to be a DIY thing anymore. It’s all about the money bud.

If it has ZF transmission you are not supposed to flush because it contains long life transmission fluid. Long life really means 100K miles, then starts to break down and it takes 100K or more driving to break down to be completely. Max life of ZF transmission life is 200K miles so they just said why bother flushing when the fluid will be good for life of the transmission? By flushing you may be able to buy another 50K of life if your are lucky. Otherwise it would be waste of time and money,

I don’t know what toyota recommends for service intervals.
seeing the manual is misplaced. I would call the dealership
                    to see what they recommend.

My Jeep with a CVT basically has a warning that the transmission fluid isn’t really considered user serviceable, but still says use Chrysler CVT+4 fluid only.
The change interval is listed as 100,000 Miles. I’m on my second transmission and have 72K on the clock. Transmission was changed at about 50K so I figure I will probably not ever have to have the fluid changed before I get rid of it again.
