So I bought my 1999 Toyota 4Runner 4×4 with limited edition trim, about a month ago, and I love it. I got a good deal for the price. However I noticed two things after I had it bought. I find a set of tubes near the fire wall with nothing attached and two more about 10ish inches way that look like where a hose would connect them all, that are plugged. I could just put some hoses on them, but I thought I should get a second opinion on it just to be safe. I don’t know if the plugs are a benefit to the engine or a lazy mechanic’s band-aid fix. (Its not real hard to put vacuum hoses on.) I have no idea why either the previous owner, or the dealer where I bought it put them there. Any thoughts? See pics below..
