Just finished rebuilding suspension on wifes 06 caravan. Replaced strut towers, sway bar links, inner and outter tie rods. And lower control arms with ball joint. Needless to say hours of no fun on floor with jack stands. In the final momments pulled a real diy mistake and over filled the lower ball joint and cracked the boot. Of course it cracked on the rotor side grr. If anyone has changed these lower control arms on that era of caravan, they know they suck with the reinforcement cradle, not too mention waiting another week with van down waiting on replacement part which i would pay for as it is my fault. The split was real small and i squeezed out some more greese and wiped away to keep access from coming out on rotor as much as possible. My thoughts are to leave it as long as no brake fade is noticed. It is a brand new joint which is not serviceable without the control arm and if it wears out faster than the rest, i can change it then alot faster as single part. What are others thoughts and please only those with experience? Also would anyone try to tape split or apply a compound and if so, with what. Again split is small and on knuckle side down low? Thanks in advance.
