I’m from Canada and as a journeyman, we only can claim 500$ for tool expense a year. I was wandering if you guys has any other option to get the best deal if you are building yourself a decent tool box set.

Other option is to start your own company as a example so you can right off everything. Any just throwing the puck around.

Tool is an investment but again you need to subtract it from your salary. It’s the downfall of our trade, you take an electrician, basic tool better salary, but there downfall is your first mistake is sometime your last mistake 👿

IDK what goes on in Canadia, but for 2013 Tax returns it goes like this:

#1: Tax people don’t know shit. They’re gonna lump everything together.
2: I was told that if you have $6,100+ in deductions, that money is removed from your income, and you are taxed off of the lower number.
3: It really isn’t worth it to save all of those receipts & count them all up every year unless you really spent the money.

        Hope I helped somebody

Great topic. Maybe someone here actually knows something about it??
