      Hello all,
I am currently enrolled in a Diesel Technology program at a local community college. I’m starting to buy tools little by little so I’m ready for my internship and won’t feel a huge sticker shock after graduation. What brand and size box would give me the best bang for my buck? Thanks

At this point in your career – US General from Harbor Frieght.

If you are still wrenching after 3 years, then you may want to consider a used snap on box. A good used one can be bought for around 1/3 of the truck price.

Thanks Karl. What do you think about a Craftsman box? As a student, I get 50% off Craftsman. Should I get just a bottom roll chest or should I get a top/bottom combo set? Thanks for the help?

If you can get a craftsman box less than a US General I would say go for it. Craftsman boxes aren’t made in the US anymore, the older US ones were made much better than current ones.

As far as top and bottom.. yes I would get both if your budget allows it. You can fill up a box really quickly…lol..

and a couple of personal thoughts.. don’t get caught up in a “my box is bigger, better, blah blah blah” war with other techs… They may have a better box, but a box doesn’t make you money, good tools and your skills do… just smile and say “it’s paid for” 🙂 that will shut them up….

Cash is king and the borrower is a slave to the lender… and if you can’t pay for it with cash, you can’t afford it…

            Best of luck

I’ve been researching Homak tool boxes. Specifically the Homak H2PRO 41in. The reviews seem solid and the price is reasonable. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help.
