I have the normal big rolling tool box (from Sears so you know the brand)(Mostly SK tools though). But I also keep a set of tools that I use for changing oil and oil filters in a box on the floor (more like a box lid with sides) that I simply slide over when doing that work. It has only the tools I need to change oil and filter on any car that I currently own (which is too many but that’s for another topic some day). I find that if I keep it there, I don’t rob from it for other projects and it’s always ready to go. I also keep a cheaper tool box in the trunk of my primary car (I use it to help others and it’s never in my cars that I have problems with – so, when I break down I’m usually in the wrong car!). Do you keep tool kits spread around like that?

I know what you mean and understand where you’re at. My personal take on this is… I have a larger toolbox (Craftsman) in my father’s garage (Yes, I live at home, still young.) I keep that for repairing friend’s cars, and it holds ALL my tools, I keep the oil changing tools in one drawer so I have them. Needless to say, a full sized service jack. However, I keep a little 2 ton trolley jack in my trunk, along with a tire iron for anyone I find on the side of the road, with OLD hand tools, and basic wrenches incase someone needs help on the side of the road. This way, I’m prepared.
