I have this tool box set that I got in the garbage. What year is it from ? The prices of the new tool boxes are just way too high. So I store my tools in boxes like these.

      Thanks.

I would say the box is from the late 60s or early 70s. As long as it works for you who cares where it came from. I had a craftsman box that was similar to your top one.

All Snap on boxes of that vintage have the date stamped on the back. Look for the two numbers (I.E. 74 for 1974) on the back.

I am no Snap On tool box expert but that doesn’t look like a Snap On box. It looks almost like a Waterloo that someone put decals on. If it is a Snap On their should be stamps on the back of the box in the upper left hand corner of the box. They may be faint and hard to read but they will be there. Either way that’s a great score and will hold tools just fine!

After having over 30 some boxes in my lifetime, I can say for 99% certainty that bottom box is a Snap on.. Ironically yesterday, I sold a very similar Snap on bottom box. Mine was a 1964 vintage. The top is a bit more unusual, but I am fairly sure it is Snap on as well….

The bottom looks like a KRA 378 found in the 1967 catalog. By the way, the Collecting Snap on website is a great resource for looking up unusual tools you find at flea mkts and pawn shops….

Been buying and selling tools and boxes since 2004.

Oh and here is your fun fact for the day for those in the Great White North….. Snap on did make tools (not just toolboxes) in Canada, and are even marked Snap on Canada. They are rare and sought after by Vintage Snap on collectors… So keep your eyes peeled for them at flea markets and pawn shops up there…..

Thanks everyone for your information. The boxes work just fine. In the future I will probably clean them up and paint them again in their original color.
