Eric I had a daihatsu motor that ended up breaking the crankshaft plulley. Thought that was strange – maby cause its 4 wd.

After throwing parts at it I listened to code 11 and down to my last option changed the ecu.

I could now hear it over reving in cold start and hunting after that. However the Engine prior to the ecu only responded when the booster line was removed.

      So to recapp.
A video on rpm size and belt degree.
How to tell if its advanced or the belts headed – retarded.
      Computer thow out perhaps.
      Crankshaft pulley over valves.

Daihatsu feroza, HD-E engine, EFI, 4 cyc,
      Single OH cam, 16 v.

Want an apprentice. Thank you Eric.

That’s a pretty specific request that I believe would be difficult to fill, especially since I’ve never seen one of those vehicles at my shop. If the opportunity comes up I’d be happy to make some videos on that topic for you though.

As for an apprenticeship, I don’t run my shop like a repair shop, it’s a production studio. That means there would be little to noting to do as the only vehicles I work on are the ones that end up in my videos.

Thanks for the suggestion and the offer.

Hey Cam, here’s a suggestion for you. Although Eric isn’t doing an apprenticeship program, if you have the time to do that sort of thing, you might either take some courses in automotive mechanics at a local night school program or junior college.

About 40 years ago I dated a gal whose father had a diesel truck repair shop. Liability laws and issues were a lot different then and he let me come down on weekends or evenings to watch and help out where I could. I learned a lot and after college, learned my tech trades in the Navy.

Personally, I think Eric should also be teaching in a classroom and hands-on shop although I’m sure the audience he reaches this way is much broader and less limited. He’s got that gift of being a really great and memorable instructor. Plus he knows the value of giving back to the profession, improving the quality of technical education and generally the ability of how to approach, thoroughly analyze and successfully solve problems.

But maybe, Cam, you can find someone locally to let you help out and teach you as they go as I was fortunate enough to have way back then.
