I have a Chevy 2.2L ’95 engine. The ticking is definitely coming from the front of the engine – I mean the real front of the engine which is the side of the car.

      The car runs fine, otherwise.

It’s got 195,000 miles on it and I’m wondering if it’s worth replacing the timing chain.

The parts guys say they have never heard of one breaking, but what about timing and engine performance?

      -Thanks for any input. 🙂

if it looks like this then yes. If the engine is not having
        any issues then no.

If you’re sure it is the timing chain making the noise then go ahead and replace if the car is still worth spending a few dollars on. If the chain breaks or jumps it could damage other parts of the engine.

The chain tensioner was a poor design on those cars so be sure you install a new tensioner with the updated one.
