I have 2 suggestions for you and I’m making 1 thread instead of 2. Nice, eh?
1) ‘Tis the season: For car shows!!! :banana:
I suggest that ETCG take a weekend trip & go to a Kustom/Classic car show. I’d like to see what happens when you take a camera to a car show. Something like Good Guys.
Can you make a video of the rides that catch your eye? Perhaps interview the owners???2)Young Guns & Grey Beards: Can you make an ETCG1 video for us younger Techs on how to approach and obtain education from the Grey Beards?
I’ve discovered that most Grey Beards are too pissed off at everything to teach us younger guys a few things. Very few old timers are willing to educate a new tech. Far less are willing to help the young guy out of a hole.
Old guys like to flip me shit every time I ask a question, bust my balls, crack jokes at my expense, and then once in a while, they come over to educate me.
How can a young tech approach a smarter tech, and get education? Is there a magic word? It seems to me that “Could you please give me advice on…?” or even “Hey, can you please help me with…?” Just doesn’t work.
Is it me, or is it the senior techs just being all pissed off at the world?
God forbid I ask for some career advice…

Honestly I’ve thought about doing a video from a car show for some time now. Thing is I’d need to hire someone to follow me with the camera for starters. Secondly, those shows often happen on the weekends. I normally spend all day Saturday editing the videos for the following week. In order for me to make it to a show I would have to have a stock of videos built up so that I could have a Saturday off. Honestly, that’s not likely to happen anytime soon. The other possibility is for me to hire an editor to help with that workload. I’ve been looking for one but I haven’t found one that clicks yet.
As for your other request I’ve addressed this very topic in a few ETCG1 videos. Here’s a couple I can think of off the top of my head.
It’s amazing that you can remember which videos covered what topics and find them on your page so fast.
I was up until 1:30am last night, going through the new YT layout and adding old ETCG1 vidz to my own playlist that I call: “Food for thought: Best of ETCG1” (link here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLY2yPqy7xXhxowssbU6LSuOkc6aX9hkSJ )
I added “Exit strategy”, but didn’t get to “Dynamics” before going to bed. lol. I remembered you have touched on the subject, but I had forgotten how far into detail you went. I was about to just click it, add to playlist, and view later. I’m really glad I posted this thread because now these two videos are in the top priority when they were previously just vidz of interest.
I had just enough time to view the “Dynamics” video again, but I gotta split before viewing “Exit” and before asking deeper questions.
Is there a forum thread on this topic? My internet has been giving me a problem with using your search. I was able to search just fine while I was out & about earlier, but now I forgot where to find what I’m looking for, and my POS laptop will not cooperate with me.
If there isn’t one, then perhaps you could create and pin-to-the-top a thread within Techs only for us green horns???

Honestly I don’t remember if there are topics on those videos yet or not. If there were, they’d be in the ETCG1 Video Forum. If they’re not there, feel free to start them. Just be sure to include the video in your post that way people know what we’re on about.
