      Hello there every one, I’ve had this problem for a while now on my car that is when it has sat over night in the garage or whatever its really slow and sometimes impossible to start if its really really cold ( -20C ).

      I have done a load check on the battery and the test seemed to be saying that the battery is fine, but It’s 7 years old, I don’t wanna buy a new battery and find out that I’ve got a worn out starter.. 🙁

      So this slow/impossible start always happens when it’s cold or the car has sat for a while, I normally let it warm up to operating temperatures before driving away, the car starts up quickly when it’s partly warm or fully warmed up.

      What I expect is a possible bad starter cause the car has been been used for abit as a learner car, Sometimes my parents accidently start the car up when its already running, making a horrible grinding noise. :angry:

      Information about the car;
      Peugeot 307 2.0 SW
      Brought brand new 12-2004 (04 model)
      Currently has 78 805 kilometers on it (48 978 miles)

      ( I had this question up before but it was probably in the wrong category :silly: )

        I wouldn’t worry about it the vehicle (to me) seems to start fine if it is -20C. But after 7 years I expect the battery will not last too much longer and the starter sounds fine. Grinding heard is the starter gear and flywheel kissing each other as the are both spinning. That’s the problem of a quiet engine. You need a loud louder muffler so you can hear that the vehicle is on so you don’t try and start it when it is already running. lol

          Haha… Well I’ve personally never done that but my mom tends to accidently do that from time to time cause the engine’s really quiet when it’s warm. 😆

          Also only problem with the louder muffler is that I can’t get one that is loud enough to be heard in the car, silly law restrictions.. :/

            Check the connections on your battery as well I had the exact same problem with my pickup, all I had to do is tighten the battery connections and it was fixed. It’s funny how the simplest of things can sometimes cause the biggest of headaches.

              If its a slow start.You can either read voltage at the starter to see
              if low or you can jump the car with cables to see if the cranking speeds
              up. If it does battery is weak.Its also not good to be starting the car with
              it running.Things happen.You could pull the starter and inspect the starter
              teeth. Also clean up the posts and wiring of any corrosion.
