I purchased 4 new tires 4 mounths ago. The car has started to pulling to the right. Alignment done 4 times, last time at the tire dealer. All suspension components good. After the tires were rotated left side to right side ( directional tires )the car is now pulling to the opposite side (left).
The tire dealer still refuses to admit the tires are bad. The tire manufacturer will not do anything unless they received a report from the tire dealer.
Any advice as to how to get these refunded ?

Are the tires inflated properly? To have an argument for a refund/replacement you need to figure out what about the tire is the issue.

It depends on the tires some have no warranty other than workmanship/material while others cover road hazard/mileage/tread wear/etc.. The tire dealer could adjust them under ride discomfort, and from your question it is most likely that there is a radial pull in the tire try rotating the front to the back and see if the pull goes away. if not then there is something else wrong such as a brake dragging or possibly an issue with the power steering.

OK, so if the tire dealer does not think the tires are the problem what is his suggestion/diagnosis? I’d press them about this and if they are reluctant ask how you go higher in their organization to voice your satisfaction. If you purchased at a chain such as Firestone, Goodyear etc. then your recourse is to contact their corporate customer service division. Did you buy a hazard warranty with the tires, if so there may be some recourse there.

This is always a challenging situation to face with tires. When the pulling follows the tire switching as in your case there is a tire problem! At this point I’d try to isolate what tire it is. Start by the the driver side tires front to rear. If the pulling remains the same then 2-tires might be bad.

When all else fails you might call one of your local TV stations and ask if they have a consumer help program. some stations do for situations like yours.

All tire pressures are ok ( pressure chart on door pillar ). The tires I had before were of the same brand and they did not pull. I have read on the internet of others experiencing the same problems.
The problem is with the thread pattern. The pattern is not symetrical, causing the outer half threads to grip traction first followed by the inner.

I understand about the tread pattern. I’m going by your statement that the pulling followed the rotation of the tires from one side of the car to the other. I don’t feel the tread pattern is the cause here. Leaving now-will be back on Tuesday.

This is a very difficult situation. I’ve seen real trouble when trying to get tire warranties. About the only thing I can suggest is taking it somewhere else to get a second opinion. With that information you might be able to contact the manufacturer and get something for it.

Good luck and keep us posted.
