      Had a tire issue with the wife-mobile (2009 VW Jetta S 2.5L).

She went in for a rotation and about 4000 miles later I discovered that the shop had not rotated the directional tires correctly and the rears were installed in reverse. I got that corrected and the shop says the tires should be OK.

Is there any possibility of damage from running them backwards?

      thx.

Directional tires are only supposed to be rotated front to back..not criss cross or side to side. By rears being installed in reverse you mean that they swapped sides? Most tire wear happens in the front of the car so I wouldn’t worry about it too much if it was only the rears that were swapped the wrong way. What did they do? Move the ones in the rear to the front and then the front ones to the rear and criss cross them(the ones that were moved to the rear from the front)?

Directional tires have a tread design that is supposed to be better at clearing water from under the tread. Other than that they are just tires.
