So halfway through stripping the head for a head gasket job on a 96 toyota corolla / geo prizm with the 7afe 1.8l, you need to take the timing belt covers off (obviously) but it’s a 3 part thingo and the water pump, engine mount and idler pulley are all in the way. The timing covers are made of durable but fairly flexible plastic and as i’m maneuvering the middle section of the ordeal out it snags on the timing belt and tears a hole in the middle of the belt
SMH WHY TOYOTA WHY! so along with a VRS kit, radiator thermostat and a few temperature coolant sensors it’s also getting a timing belt (luckily it didn’t tear off so i can still mark the timing on the old belt for the new belt)
but srsly never buying a toyota again, had a toyota pickup it was balls and uncomfortable as that said it was pretty low maintenance for the year i owned it, 94 camry blew had gasket in the first 3 months and an 1986 ae82 corolla which my dad had owned for 26 years he loved it but it was a junker.
every toyota i’ve owned has just about had numerous issues with, i don’t know why they get such a good rep when their customers don’t take care of their vehicles and they just end up ruining it
never again, i’ve learnt my lesson.
