In the VManual for those who have seen it on the J series Honda/Acura timing belt replacement. ERic talks about two types of Belt tensioners.

      1. Is a short on that he says is the better of the two.

      2. Is a longer one that he says fails often and should be replaced along with the belt.

I am curious as to if i have tensioner #2 can i replcae it with #1?

      Thanks!

Maybe ill raise my chances of getting a reply if i add some pictures..

The short one is the optimal one. The second apparently fails often.
        Are these two tensioners interchangeable?

You have the one with the pin. I think they
          call it the grenade style.

Right, my question is are they interchangeable?

Can i put the shorter one on instead of the grenade style?

I don’t believe you can. The part only comes up with the one Listed above.
