Timing belt.

Hey guys I’m pretty sure it’s time to just let my car go but want to ask what people think my chances are of fixing it. I have a 00 dodge stratus v6 and last night the timing belt decided to snap at 180,000 miles. IF I can just replace the belt I’ll fix but I’m pretty sure she’ll need alot more thst a belt. Also how can I check for bent valves preferably without having to pull everything apart

You don’t give any specifics …
But:
• 2.5L V6 Interference
• 3.0L SOHC 12 Valve Engine Non-Interference
• 3.0L DOHC Interference
• 3.0L SOHC 24 Valve Engine Interference
• 3.2L Interference
• 3.5L Interference
• 4.0L Interference

As to possible internal damage….
Might try a bore scope and see of there has been contact from the valves on the tops of the pistons.
A leak down test will show damage, but requires you to rotate the cams in order to close both valves with out replacing the timing belt.
A compression check will also tell you, but requires you to replace the timing belt

Oh my bad. IT is of course the v6 2.5 interference

All hope is not lost..
it is common for a interference engine to break a timing belt but still have no valve damage.
But it will require some elbow grease to confirm.

That’s about where I stand with it I’m going for he quick an easy of just looking the through the spark plugs tube to see if there is any obvious damage
