      Hi Guys,

I have a 1996 Honda Del Sol with about 108k miles on it. If I’m in neutral and push the clutch the tone changes a little which I assume is kind of normal, but when I let the clutch out instead of the original sound coming back instantly it kind of fades or transitions into the original sound. Is this a throw out bearing issue? I’ve never changed a clutch or anything like that so any advice is greatly appreciated.

I’ll try to get a video of it this evening since it’s hard to describe.

      Thanks!

🙂 I have a few questions to ask about your clutch. Does the clutch pedal release differently than before, what I mean is, does the pedal start to engage the clutch at a higher or lower pedal height than it did in the past ? I know there things happen gradually and you may nor have noticed a change. Have you had to top-off your clutch fluid lately ? Did you just start to notice this noise with the coming of cooler weather ?
You may be seeing a early sign of a clutch hydraulic problem, usually it is the clutch slave cylinder starting to fail. OR it could be the throw-out bearing making the noise. If you could give us some more info, I am sure your solution will be found.

I’m not sure about the difference in feel since the car sat all year. I painted it in my garage and would start it here and there, pull it out into the driveway but never ran it out of first or reverse.

with the cool weather this is the first winter I’ve owned the car, so not sure there either, lol.

Hydraulics came to mind too, since I thing the master cylinders are known to leak and fail. I’ll take a look today and see if there are any signs like that. Is there a way to test the slave cylinder for premature wear?
