I’m planning on changing the trans fluid and filter on my 2005 Jeep Liberty this weekend, and the FSM calls for applying thread sealant to one of the bolts. It says to use Mopar Lock & Seal Adhesive, but I’ve got some Permatex high-temp thread sealant lying around from when I replaced my cylinder head bolts, so I guess that would work just fine?

Yep that should do the trick. Some thread are deep enough and go inside… the idea is that the oil doesn’t leak through the thread. If they would be all on the outside and expose to the air… that wouldn’t be a problem to not use the sealant.

Just don’t go crazy on the sealant 😉

Sounds like it would work fine to me.

Mopar Lock & Seal Adhesive is basically blue lock-tight. Ford has the same product under the Motorcraft name. I believe that the product you have will work just fine.
