Those Richard Cranium co-workers! Story time!

Hello gentlemen! Well, as some of you may know I have recently started my apprenticeship as a diesel mechanic at a local garage. I got along fine with all of the guys, got to know there names – all went smooth. Now, this one guy I met maybe once pulled me from a job I was doing to help him. His name’s John.

So John needs me to use an impact gun to remove some bolts from a cross member under the fifth plate. He’s an older man so he was unable to get on the creeper and make his way under the rig (so as he says). He gives me the generic instructions with a grumpy and negative tone. Obviously I comply, make my way under the 5th and quickly shoot off all the bolts whilst he holds the nuts atop of me. Unfortunately, one of the bolts was unable to to thread out, so -HE- decided to use an air-hammer to bash it out. Naturally I go with the flow and accept to hammer it out from underneath. Before I could even say anything he slides the tool beside me and says “Get started”.

At this point I tell him I need to get some hearing protection (for those of you who have never used one, these things bang hard and loud). He gruntly tells me that he has “No time for this bullshit” then told me to “hurry the fuck up”. I was shocked, but I still insisted that I am to wear hearing protection.

After the second time I stated I need the hearing protection, he lost it. He said “Fuck off, kid. Get the fuck out, I ain’t got time for idiots like you”. So, naturally I carried on out from under the truck, slid the creeper over to him and made my way back to my original job. As I was walking towards the truck I was working on he said “Keep your head up, kid”. And honestly, me and one of the other guys I work with broke out in tears laughing for this guy is probably 5’5″.

Sure enough though, one of our shop cleaners saw the whole indecent and reported to the shop owner. The owner of the shop approached me at the end of the day and said that he will have a talk with John and so on.

Alright, so that’s my story… My only story, I’ve been a diesel apprentice for only two weeks! What are your co-worker stories?
