      Help! Anyone?!
So after a big, long tune up on my 1999 Honda Prelude (JDM S-Spec)…a big problem arose!
      Tune-up:
New plugs, oil & filter, fuel filter, wires, distributor & rotor. Sent injectors to be tested & cleaned…new o-rings. New PCV valve.
Removed Throttle-B, IACV, VTEC solenoid, FPR, EGR valve & FITV. All of which I took apart, checked & cleaned to a shine! New gaskets all around. However I did put an aftermarket TB gasket (quite thick in mm but supposedly keeps things cooler between TB & intake plenum).
      EGR ports cleaned and re-capped.
The car was running ok, but I did notice a lack of power, as if the VTEC wasn’t kicking in. The car had been sitting for almost a year…with the same gas in the tank!!! I also emptied the tank and put new gas
All the parts mentioned above were working ok…? Looked not too carbonized! But I used TB cleaner and cleaned all the above mentioned parts.
After putting Humpty back together again…maybe I got my hoses mixed-up, or air in the coolant sys. but the idle is steadily jumping from 2000 to 3500 right from start up and continues…

      Help!!!

I would try and burp the cooling system. You could check for vacuum leaks.

          OK.
Do you know where I can find diagrams of ‘which hose goes where’?
I can’t find clear diagrams from my Prelude…?
Would connecting the wrong hose cause this idle jumping?
Anyhow, I will try to bleed the cooling sys.
Should I drain it all our or just let the car run and top it off progressively?
          Thanks.

            Check for vac. leaks…
I don’t have propane…and the carb cleaner method???
If the engine is cold, what are the chances of starting a fire if I spray carb cleaner to find leaks???
            Hmm?

I did remove my throttle body when I cleaned it…and only after the fact did I read that by doing that I may have screwed up the throttle position sensor???

see if this helps. If your nervous with carb spray you can use soapy water with a spray bottle.
Burp the existing coolant. Otherwise you will introduce more air.

                  Thanks for the advice.
Can you please define what you mean by ‘burp’?
Cuz I just guzzled down 2 beers in front of my car and then I made a big ‘burp’!
My neighbour’s kid ran off crying but my car seemed unimpressed!
It definately cleared ‘my’ coolant system!
                  🙂

The same thing you did with the beer burp but only let the car do it. 🙂
