Two of the techs I work with are vets. Somehow our boxes all ended up in a corner together. One guy made this and hung it up. It doesn’t seem like much, but to me it means quite a bit.

I am. And honestly I feel very lucky to be able to have served. I was a punk ass little boy when I enlisted at 19 years old, and I grew up a lot over the 6 1/2 years I was in. It made me a better person and I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to see the places I’ve seen and done the things I’ve done. I’ve had the honor of meeting some of the most incredible people in the world both in the military and over seas, and I’ve been given many, many opportunities in the civilian sector because I’m a veteran.

My only regret is I joined the wrong branch. Some people are door kickers and trigger pullers. Some people aren’t. I don’t get a long well with people that don’t have a rifleman mentality.

Thats cool. I’m a Marine. I did 5 years on active duty and got out and went into the reserves. Been in ten years now. I wish I work with some veteran that are like minded and understand your mentality. Civilians are hard to work with sometimes. They just wont ever really understand you.

Thanks for your service brother. If you’re ever in Ohio shoot me a message on here and the first 15 beers are on me. The other vet on my shift was a grunt in the Army. We click and get shit done. We look at what work needs to be done, divide it up between the two of us and square it away. The civilians (lube techs) argue about who gets what, who did what last time. Bitch, bitch, bitch. I have to admit the techs, and master techs treat us really good and show us as much as they can. And they let us verbally beat on the lube techs more than we should lol.

Hey thanks for your service too man. Yeah like I stated before I wish I had some fellow veterans around everyday. I look forward to going to drill to do my reserve thing each month. I get to hang out with my brothers for a little while. I found it funny you are from Ohio, my best friend from active duty is from Ohio and my wife and her family is from Ohio. That’s whats funny about the Military you are all from all over the united states and even from different countries but you all have something in common which when you meet another veteran you can instantly click and talk about random things.

There seem to be a lot of guys in the service from Ohio. One of the Marines I knew was a drill instructor and he told me he would seriously have entire platoons from Ohio. I appreciate the sentiment. When a brother thanks me for my service it has more meaning to me. ‘One of us’ kind of thing. I’ll shoot you a private message so we can spare everyone the boring military stories only we find funny.
