i bought me a gallon of coolant and a thermostat for my kia rio 2006. i drained the radiator and removed the upper hose to flush and access the thermostat. the thermostat is not there. is there any other location for thermostat? so i put them all back together with new coolant but did not re[palce the thermostat. i dont have any overheating problem anyway. its just a routine flush. where is the thermostat for kia rio 2006?

This should be what the thermostat housing looks like. If it’s not inside, it was probably never installed.

According to this site it looks like:
            http://www.autopartsexpress.com/catalog/product/view/id/244677/s/auto7-311-0096-thermostat-housing-cover/category/231/

With that being said, on the Sedona it appears to be on the lower radiator hose (I’m guessing similar for the Rio, but they are completely separate engines). Should be inside that housing. My image didnt go through, but if you pause the youtube video below at 1:51, you will see the housing, which the thermostat resides in.

            Best Regards

Geeez………….Just ring up the local Kia service center and ask them where it is. Alternatively phone up or go into the KIA parts department and they will pull up a diagram on their computer and you can buy a new one at the same time.
