I know that my truck is “VIN T”. If I didn’t know that, when working on a family car, the VIN is right there on my insurance card that lives in my wallet. Don’t need to run out to check.

I see the mechanic/parts guy relationship kinda like the doctor/pharmacist. I don’t expect the pharmacist to diagnose or fix me; I trust her to fill the prescription correctly and to know about possible interactions with other medications I may be taking.
