      Hello everyone,
So what happens in your guys’ shops / places when the tool truck arrives?

When I worked for the airline, the tool truckwould come towards the end of 3rd shift and beginning of second. By this time in the shift, most of the airplanes were out of the hangar and at the gate loading passangers so we mechanics were not really busy. But at my new job working on cargo planes, the tool truck shows up (sometimes) between first and second shift (we dont have a 3rd shift) It creates a little bit of a production slowdown while some people brows the truck / make purchaes. Where I work is not flatrate though, and alot of times we clock out to talk to the snapon guy. The guy that sells to us is kinda new and kinda slow. He may not even come much more because most of the people in our shop pretty much have all the tools they need, so it may not profit him much.

We take turns going on the truck. Usually 3 at a time. I have been buying more as of late however I need to cut back a little 😆

I Have a pretty good rapport with my Snap on guy…. I really like him…never gives me $#it about broken tools and since I work from my house now, he makes house calls… I have worked with probably 8+ snap on dealers in the past few years (lived in different states) and he is the only guy who makes house calls. … luckily he lives very close to me and if I call him he stops by at the end of the day… lets me browse all I want. If he takes the time to come by, he knows he has a cash sale…

Our guy comes into the shop, ask if we need anything. If we do we try to plunder out a few at a time.

The Cornwell guy texts me every week to see if I need anything. If I don’t he doesn’t stop. I’m the only tech at my shop so I’m the only one who buys. We he does come I pretty much plan on spending a minimum of 30 minutes to talk….he loves to talk. If I bring up my dissatisfaction with Snapon then he’ll be there an hour. I generally don’t try to rush him out. He’s a cool guy and gives me great service.

Cornwell is the only truck I get. The Snapon guy doesn’t stop often….even though he drives by twice a week. Doesn’t matter his truck is empty and Snapon cut him off for non pay…..guess he shouldnt have sold all the 20 year old techs in the area Epiq boxes they can’t pay for.

We have both a Matco and a Mac dealer but they seem to only stop at factories and machine shops.

Snap-on guy shows up on Thursday mornings and Mac on Friday mornings. Both come into the shop and check to see if we need anything. If so we will go to the truck one by one. Small shop with 3 techs. if I have ordered anything they usually bring it in with them so I don’t have to go out to the truck.
